    My Old friend the Magazine.

My Husband is very understanding about the piles of magazines I have laying around the house.  In fact my home would seem a lot less cluttered if it weren't for the magazines stuffed in every nook and cranny.  I am sure you design addicts out there know exactly what I am talking about.  But.... whenever I am working on a  new project and need some inspiration or just an idea on how to treat a certain area I turn to my trusted old friends, my magazines.

I was trying to find some ideas for a Neutral living room, that had an European old world feel.  I pulled out a stack of my old Southern Accents.  This is what I ran across in my January-February 2002 edition, this wonderful home done by designer Dan Carithers.

Aren't theses rooms beautiful? Some homes are timeless no matter how long ago they were done.  So glad I kept that old pile of magazines.  How about you?  Do you keep stacks of back issues of your favorite magazines and if so, how far back do they go?  How long before the  designs in them are out dated?

What? Stacks of magazines aren't a design element?! :) I couldn't really live without all my magazine issues either. Some, I just keep each and every issue of. Others, after many years, I tear out the features with interiors that I love and keep those. Once in a great while, my Mr. FrenchGardenHouse gets a little cranky about the stacks. not often. But then I organize them a little, put some in magazine holders, and am so proud. Only to start stacking all over again.

Oh yes! I have stacksand stacks of design magazines. I do go through them occasionally and pull out pictures for my inspiration folder and then throw out the magazine. Some magazines have been with me forever and are favorites. Those never get pulled apart or tossed. I loved this home and I still have pictures saved from this issue.
